Investigation of the effect of sulphurous humic acid and plant density on the growth and yield of red beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars

Abstract

The experiment was conducted as a factorial based on a randomized complete blocks design with three replications in the Bojnord city in the year 2022. The experimental factors were: plant density at three levels (19, 25, and 40 plants per square meter, sulfur-containing humic acid (0, 4 and 6 L.hec-1) and Phaseolus vulgaris cultivars (Ofogh, Dadfar and Yaghoot). The highest plant height was 7.74 cm that related to the Yaghoot cultivar at a density of 40 plants and the lowest plant height was related to the Dadfar at all three plant densities. It was observed that among the studied cultivars, Yaghoot had the highest number of seeds per pod. The highest seed yield was related to the interaction of Yaghoot and Ofogh cultivars with humic acid of 6 L.hec-1. It was also observed that in the absence of fertilization, the amount of total chlorophyll of cultivars Yaghoot and Ofogh was not affected by the density, but with increasing of humic acid, the amount of total chlorophyll in all three cultivars significantly increased, and the highest amount of this trait was at the highest level of humic acid and plant densities 19 and 25 for Yaghoot and the density of 19 plants for Dadfar. In general; The best cultivar was Yagut variety and in the next stage, the Ofogh variety and the best plant density was 40 plants per square meter, and among the humic acid levels, the consumption of 6 L.hec-1 had the best result.
